Louisiana Shrimp Week

Louisiana Shrimp Week started last Wednesday, June 27 and boy are we New Yorkers lucky that 22 of some of our best restaurants received pounds of shrimp from the Louisiana Seafood Board to get creative with and serve us. These shrimp came straight off the dock from Louisiana and it’s pretty obvious with each taste of these succulent bad boys. One of my all time favorite restaurants, Lure Fishbar is serving the most amazing Shrimp and Tagliatelle Pasta with Head-On Shrimp, Lemon Sofrito, and Herbed Bread Crumbs (1st pic). While pasta is never my go-to order, this dish is unbelievable and yet so simple. The pasta melts in your mouth – when does that ever happen with pasta? Let’s face it, bread crumbs make everything better. Chef Josh Capon needs to add this to the regular menu stat. I loved it and might have to make it back for round two since you can only get it until July 6…

If you are looking for something a little bit lighter, go for the Shrimp Ceviche served with lime, tomato, red chili and salty corn chips (3rd pic), but I would say the Shrimp Panzanella Salad (2nd pic) at sister restaurant Burger & Barrel is way better because the shrimp have more flavor when they are cooked. In addition, David Burke Kitchen is serving a Louisiana Shrimp Boil in a Paint Can until July 11, so you have some time to make it there. Paint can you ask? This comes with tasso, corn, fingerlings, sweet carrots over dirty rice. There is still time to celebrate at these few restaurants so make sure to get it while it’s fresh!
