The Fat Radish is an off-the-beaten-path, Lower East Side spot offering a rotating seasonal menu and locally-sourced veggies. The airy, open space decorated with flowers, trees and picnic tables tricks you into thinking you are in an outdoor garden; however, there aren’t even any windows in sight! This house-like space holds big groups, and I’m a big fan of the long back table which provides the best view of the restaurant. Behind it lies a massive shabby chic mirror covered in red marker highlighting the daily specials. Definitely order off the specials menu –more attention and flavors concentrated here. The signature Celery Root Pot Pie floats constantly throughout the room as every table orders at least one. It’s thick not creamy and responsible for the amazing smell that lingers. The distracting two-person table shoved in the back left corner is perfect for a “snuggly” date night. Come to The Fat Radish for a light dinner and ideal pregame spot before heading out!
